Gets the room ice cold. Easy to set up. It's very powerful and looks like it's going to hold up a good while. Love the timer option as well as the auto swing option. My only regret is not having bought 2 of these units.

Stopped working

I live in Seattle where we only use AC for a few weeks each year. This unit worked ok last year under sporadic use in July and August. We stored carefully until mid July this year, made sure filters were clean, plugged it in, and no cold air. It doesn't work. We have another less expensive brand that still works great in its 7th year.

I purchased this two years ago as hurricane preparation to cool a sunroom & portable into a bedroom for evenings. The unit performs as advertised for the BTU's and recommended room size. The only problem had was a damaged hose during shipping but Customer Service immediately sent out a replacement. I experienced terrific CS from the rep I spoke with and would recommend this unit to others. I rated it four stars because of a couple of changes I personally would like to see but I didn't have a say in the preferences.

Defective after 1 season

Worked great the first season no issues. Stored appropriately. Plugged in this year and filled up with water within the first day of use on A/C mode. Read, re- read the manual. Cleaned and re cleaned. No change. Fills up after a few hours.

Great Appearance, but louder than a freight train

This unit is terrible..It produces cold air, but doesn't reach the set temperatures. The compressor and fan operations make this unit extremely loud! It's hard to get a good night's rest when the unit is operating. Heating is a joke! It produces warm air, but far from heat. Quite worrying about mass production and fix the quality!

I've only owned this portable AC for about 2 months now, but I have used it quite a bit while my home AC system was down and it (pun intended) blew me away with how well it worked. My house is about 1,900 sq ft and two stories. The AC unit was placed upstairs where our bedrooms are. It really prevented the inside temp from becoming unbearable. Of course we used extra fans, but the GE unit was the work horse. Definitely creates a lot of condensation if the unit is being used as the primary air conditioning source. Run the drain hose out of a window if possible. Anyways, great buy and I'd do it again.

Barely got 2 months out of this unit. Started flashing error codes on the regular. Froze up constantly. Water wouldn't evaporate itself. Drained the unit over and over. Would turn to cool mode and the unit sprayed water out. Very disappointed. Went back to an ugly window unit. No complaints and room is colder than ever.

The unit was easy to setup and install. The unit is relatively quite. Works well as a backup system in case the AC goes belly up. Or, a hurricane comes though, kills the power, and a cool room is needed. The unit places a low demand on the generator.

High Output and COLD

Great supplement to our upstairs unit. It blows cold air at high output. Only negative is the noise so I would give it 4.5 stars but round up to 5 is good. It is louder than I would like but I'm not sure you can get such a high output without the few extra decibels. Buy a higher quality foam window seals, you'll be happy you did and you'll get higher efficiency and quality cooling.

When I first bought it it worked great after a week. The ac unit started vibrating and shutting off after an hour of use. Showing FL on screen I've done everything including taking the plug off and attached a hose to drain. So it doesn't cool down the room at all.

My only input is the exhaust hose should be twice as long. The window I'm using is closer to the cieling than the floor, had to set unit up off the floor so hose could reach the window. Do you make a hose extension kit or something?
